Robert Montgomery has been an attorney for 33 years, specializing in divorce and family law in Portland, Maine.

Born in 1955 in New Rochelle, New York, Robert attended Middlebury College, graduating with honors in 1977. He then taught reading to under-privileged high school students in the New York City public schools.

Robert Montgomery graduated from New York Law School with cum laude honors, in 1983. While a full-time law student, Robert Montgomery worked in the Federal Defenders Office in Manhattan and clerked for the Honorable Vincent Broderick in Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York.

In Manhattan, Attorney Montgomery extensive experience in litigation as a criminal defense attorney for the Legal Aid Society, defending clients charged with the full range of felonies and misdemeanors.

He moved to Portland with his wife and soon opened the Law Offices of Robert Montgomery to specialize in family law. He remains committed to the areas of Divorce, Child Custody, Parental Rights, Adoption and other aspects of family law. He now offers over 30 years of accumulated knowledge and experience in these fields. He has lectured at family law seminars and Divorce Perspectives and also is licensed to practice in the Federal Courts in the District of Maine.

Attorney Robert Montgomery has personally experienced the divorce process in Maine and is proud to have provided many years of equal residential care as a single parent of his now-grown son.

His office is located at 6 City Center, third floor, in the beautiful Old Port of Portland, Maine, Parking is available across the street at the Temple Street Parking Garage (next to the Nickelodion Cinemas).
